Local Food

The Ottawa Valley Food Co-operative

In the spring of 2008, the Ottawa River Institute received funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to raise awareness of the importance of localizing the food system and to assist in establishing the Ottawa Valley Food Co-operative. Some of the activities included presentations to municipal councils and groups, 100-mile lunches, local food sampling events, consumer and producer workshops and discussions.

The Ottawa Valley Food Co-operative is a networking project for local food producers and consumers, whereby local consumers can connect with and buy from local food producers.

If you live in the Upper Ottawa Valley and would like to buy and/or sell locally produced food through the co-operative's monthly online ordering and distribution system, please see the Ottawa Valley Food Co-operative's website.
