Park at the main entrance gate 5.5 kilometres south of Westmeath on Westmeath Road, County

Road 12. The walk to the beach is 2.5 kilometres so the walk will be 5km return. We will

have a small fire on the beach to observe the winter solstice. You may wish to bring a hot

beverage in a thermos to enjoy around the fire. Check the event on Facebook or the ORI

website here, for an update on whether snowshoes will be needed for this outing.
