Paddling Our Rivers

posted Sep 25, 2013, 8:25 AM by Ottawa River Institute
Canoeing and kayaking is a growing recreational activity for Renfrew County residents and tourists alike. Aside from the pleasure of getting out of doors and viewing our County from a different perspective, canoeing and kayaking can offer low impact physical activity that can improve health and fitness. The photo here was taken during a group paddle excursion on the Madawaska River from Calabogie to Burnstown. Eighty enthusiastic paddlers enjoyed the beauty of the Madawaska, and the opportunity to meet fellow paddlers, of all ages and paddling ability. The excursion was a collaborative initiative of the Bonnechere River Watershed Project and the Township of McNab Braeside.
