Annual General Meeting- May 5 The Ottawa River Institute is having its Annual General Meeting on Sunday May 5th in Matawatchan at the home of Audrey and Richard Copeland, 4084 Matawatchan Road. The meeting will begin at 11:30 am and will include the launch of the new Nature Notebook website. This website is an awesome resource for getting out and enjoying nature in the Ottawa Valley. It includes information and maps on many special natural areas in Renfrew County; ORI members will be invited to visit many of these areas over the course of the coming year with intrepid adventurers from the ORI Board (John Almstedt, Anne Davies, Ole Hendrickson and Kendra Smith) leading the way. Annual Seedy Sunday - March 3, 2013 Planning is underway for the annual ORI sponsored Seedy Sunday, taking place this year on Sunday March 3rd at Fellowes High School Auditorium from 10 am to 3 pm. The events of the day feature, seed swaps, seed and local food vendors, informational booths, local food lunch, presentations and more. Open the flyer below for a list of presentations. Now On-line! Bonnechere River Watershed Nature in Your Neighbourhood Guide The Bonnechere River Nature in Your Neighbourhood Guide is now available on-line!Two versions of the guide are available here for viewing or downloading; the print version, and an on-line version. The on-line version is an expansion of the print version, and features more photos, reproductions of local artists’ paintings, more web links, links to Nature in Your Neighbourhood video clips, and links to the four segments of the Nature in Your Neighbourhood video series, produced in partnership with TVCogeco. http://www.ottawariverinstitute.ca/our-projects/nature-in-your-neighbourhood

Community Launches- Two more chances! Two of the four community launches of the Nature in Your Neighbourhood Guide and Video Series have been completed and well attended! Two more launches take place this month. Monday Oct 22, 7 pm at the Renfrew Public Library and Thursday October 25, 7pm at the Admaston Bromley Public Library in Douglas. Nature in Your Neighbourhood Project Launches Guide and Shows Video Segments in Your Community The Bonnechere River Watershed Nature in Your Neighbourhood Guide is being launched and distributed in four local communities this month! The four community launches will provide an opportunity for people to pick up a free copy of the guide. As well at each launch will be a showing of the four 15 minute Nature in Your Neighbourhood video segments that have been produced for this project.
